Feats, Feats, & More Feats!

Let’s talk about feats in Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition!

Feats work in the same way you’re used to — when you get an Ability Score Increase, you can choose to take a feat instead. The Adventurer’s Guide contains over 90 feats to choose from. About half you will recognize from O5E (but rewritten the A5E way!) and the other half will be brand new.

One fun thing we’ve done is introduce Synergy Feats, designed mainly for multiclass characters. These are 8 special feats which have prerequisites (feats don’t usually have prerequisites, but these synergy feats do).

  • Bladechanter (fighter/wizard)

  • Eldritch Archer (fighter/wizard)

  • Mystic Arcanist (cleric/sorcerer)

  • Nightstalker (adept/rogue)

  • Proclaimer* (bard/herald)

  • Shadowdancer (rogue/warlock)

  • Untamed (berserker/druid)

  • Vigilante (adept/ranger)

So let’s take a look at one of these — the Bladechanter. Like most Synergy Feats, it’s a 3-part feat chain: Bladechanter, Whirling Incantor, Eldritch Whirlwind Master. You can see the first two of those feats below (and a snippet of the third!)

Remember the stretch goals we announced this weekend? These take the form of Synergy Feats, too. The vampire feats are Newblood, Vampire Spawn, Vampire Lord. The revenant ones are Vendetta, Revenant, True Revenant. We hope we get chance to include those!
